Earl Shilton Bypass Action Group
Earl Shilton is situated on the A47 between Leicester and Hinckley, and is in desperate need of a bypass for the following reasons:
Over 17,000 traffic movements through Earl Shilton per day
Earl Shilton has to suffer above average air pollution in the centre of the Village
It is now very dangerous to try to cross the A47 in Earl Shilton; hazardous to the young and elderly
The traffic is causing damage to buildings that are situated on the A47
High accident rate in the Village
High levels of noise pollution
Problems for emergency vehicles to attend incidents due to traffic
Village is now split in two by congestion on A47
'Rat Runs' are being found to avoid waiting in traffic queues at peak times
More heavy lorries are now coming through Earl Shilton following changes in signposting the A47
In places the pavements are too narrow, forcing pedestrians to walk in the road
